WITH only a fraction of a percentage point between the winner and her own business, Rebecca Coughlan was still proud of her status as a runner-up in the Australian Bridal Industry Academy awards.
Her Engadine-based business Bubbly Events came fourth last year.
This year the winner in the NSW decorator section scored 99.19 per cent and Bubbly Events 99.14 per cent.
"We do weddings and events styling and decorating and it is family run — my business partner is my mother Sandy [Tomkins], " Ms Coughlan said.
"We've been four years in the business, we started after looking at the quality and the price of other businesses: [Others increase] the price when they hear it is wedding.
"We pride ourselves on good service and what is within the person's budget."
Bubbly Events provides chairs, carpet and decorative arches relating to the type of ceremony wanted, mainly for the outdoors such as in parks and on beaches.
"There are also table decorations and drapery for the ceiling."
The number of accoutrements has grown so much that they are no longer been able to be stored in the home garage and some have been moved to Helensburgh.
This means reduced noise for neighbours when fetching what was needed for various events.
