SUTHERLAND PCYC is aiming to be the No1. boxing academy in the land.
They are one of the leading production lines of talented young boxers in the shire and the region.
They certainly have a great strike record at state and national titles.
Respected boxing coach and trainer Sean Fitzpatrick heads the program for juniors and adults three nights a week.
"We would have 120 boxers who are with the club in the juniors' and adults' ages," Fitzpatrick said.
He said the program had been under way for the past five years on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.
The support and guidance of the Sutherland PCYC manager Michelle Nelson had also been important.
"Michelle is very positive with the promotion of boxing at Sutherland PCYC," Fitzpatrick said.
He is also an experienced rugby league coach and loves to see young people being healthy and active in sport.
He said that many of the boxers in the program didn't even live in the Sutherland shire area.
"We have a fair few of the kids who travel to learn their boxing here," he said.
Among those who travel to learn their craft at Sutherland PCYC are Sam Goodman of Albion Park, Ryan Fletcher-Smith of Penrith, and Jarrod Kosorukow of St Marys.
Joshua Fitzpatrick, 14, of Yarrawarrah, is a four-times winner of the Golden Gloves at the elite level class.
His record is astonishing for a youngster.
He is also an Australian national winner, three-times NSW champion, a south-east Queensland title winner in 2014, trans-Tasman titleholder, and tri-state title winner in the 44-kilogram weight division.
Sam Goodman, 16, is a national Golden Gloves champion, an Australian title winner, three-times Australian champion, tri-state and trans-Tasman division winner, as well as victor for NSW in the State of Origin series against Queensland in the 54-kilogram weight scale.
Jarrod Kosorukow, 13, is a NSW title champion, a national title finalist and Golden Gloves finalist in the 42-kilogram weigh category.
Lachlan Jamieson, 15, is a NSW state finalist and Golden Gloves finalist in the 60-kilograms weight division.

"Ryan and David and Southside Gymnasium have been fantastic with the boxing programs with our boxers on Tuesday and Thursday nights," Fitzpatrick said.
