Having arrived in South Sudan only a few hours before, Edwina Pickles and her party were being led up a dirt track to visit a school of displaced children. The unusual scenery led her temporarily astray from the group. She had stopped to take photos when a group of people came running out from behind a tree - adorned in body paint and bearing sticks. Dismissing her instinctive urge to "run!" - Pickles figured they would catch up with her - she decided to take photos instead. Upon seeing the camera, the people started jumping and dancing. Pickles soon realised that South Sudanese people were very warm and loved to be photographed.
