TOM Yates has played on many golf courses throughout his life.
And he knows every blade of grass on the fairways and greens of Bexley Golf Course.
The veteran Bexley Golf Club player has won the club championship again.
The first time he did he was 21 in 1966. In 2014, 48 years later, the accomplished righthander has produced another club championship win.
The Bexley life member plays several days a week and more than holds his own against golfers at various courses around the traps.
As a junior his handicap was six. Now, he plays off a four handicap.
Yates' performance to win two club championships 48 years apart is a testament to his skill and talent.
There are many other achivements on the ageless golfer's CV.
They include representing Bexley Golf Club for more than 50 years in major pennants, master pennants and mixed pennants events.
Yates is also in the top five of the Order Of Merit seniors division, a statewide competition for golfers 50 years and over.
Bexley Golf Club member Terry Booker says Yates is a wonderful man and fantastic player.
"Tom is one of the best people you will ever meet," Booker said.
Yates, of Oatley, said he loves playing golf.
"I am still enjoying the game and have no plans to give it away," he said.
Yates said the camaraderie at the club makes it enjoyable and the many friends he's made through the sport is important to him.
"I still have the passion for golf," Yates said.
The club celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2014.
