I was very interested to notice your lead article (Leader, December 30) about the lack of a permanent home for the 60-year-old Cronulla Model Aero Club.
You cover all the benefits a club such as this offers to young and old alike.
My son-in-law and his father are regular Sunday "flyers" and, as you point out, this is one of the rare sports which offers so many benefits, including providing the opportunity for an activity which two, and sometimes three, generations can enjoy together.
The media, as you have done, frequently raises the importance of physical and social activities for all ages.
It seems a shame that the club has not been given the recognition of deserving a permanent home in Sutherland Shire, with its many open spaces.
The dreadful conditions you mentioned that the club has experienced are quite appalling.
Hopefully some representative of our shire council, or our state MP, or members of their staff concerned with health matters, will take an active interest in this.
