THE Medibank Wave Juniors Challenge displayed surf lifesaving club competition at its best on Sunday at Wanda beach.
The series is organised by former top ironman Zane Holmes who put together the challenge, which was held at different beaches through-out Australia.
Queensland-based Holmes retired as one of the icons of the sport, and is a five-times winner of the Nutri-Grain ironman series.
On Sunday it was Wanda's turn with many competitors participating.
There were 170 top juniors who ran, swam and paddled in the crystal clear waters off Wanda beach.
The shire leg of the event returns next year to Wanda.
