A FEW years ago the Family Afloat event was something boat owners looked forward to on Australia Day.
As Bob Taylor tells it, at least 30 boats would be dressed for the occasion — as would the people on board — and form a flotilla from Brighton to Kogarah Bay, where the best boats would be judged and everyone would watch the fireworks.
But the event lost popularity to the extent only six boats participated last year.
Mr Taylor, of Gymea, and members of the Australia Day Botany Bay Regatta Committee, want the event up and running again and are offering good prizes.
So decorate a boat and head to Kogarah Bay on January 26 between 7pm and 8pm for the judging.
