Scissor-kick, overhead, bicycle-kick, whatever it was, Tim Cahill captured the imagination of a nation last night with a goal that is sure to be celebrated in highlights videos for years to come.
"I said to myself straight away that there was nothing else I could do. The thing is, it's all instinct because when it fell, I just wanted good contact," the former Bexley North Public School student said last after Australia's 2-0 quarter-final win over China in Brisbane on last night.
"When it fell, I just wanted good contact and when I struck it, I knew there was good contact and it rippled the net and that was it. If you don't try those opportunities, you'll never know."
