Captain Courageous lived up to his name at Allphones Arena tonight. Paul Gallen won his four-rounder bout against Randall Ray at the NRL Footy Show Fight Night.
"I knew it was going to be tough but I was confident of winning against Randell," Gallen said as he thanked supporters.
"I go back to clubland now and continue with Rugby League."
Hard-punching boxer "Ferocious" George Kambosos jnr also took out his bout against Filipino fighter Rodynie Rafol.
A happy Kambosos said he had "done it pretty easy". He thanked people who backed him including Sonny Bill Williams, his family and sponsors.
"I will be here again," he said.
Sonny Bill Williams won the main event of the night against Chauncey Welliver, who later said Williams should give up NRL and pursue boxing full-time.
"We just worked hard and I hope everyone enjoyed the night," said a humble Williams.
When asked by host Beau Ryan if he would ever fight Gallen he said "Gal had definitely punched hard".
"God willing we both get through our [NRL] seasons and we might be back here next year."
