UPDATE MONDAY:
Radio and TV personality Glenn Wheeler is in an induced coma in a stable condition in St George Hospital after a road accident at Woolooware on Saturday.
He is due to have surgery this morning on his leg and pelvis.
Wheeler, 54, was riding a scooter when he was hit by a Mitsubishi wagon at the intersection of Woolooware Road and Caronia Avenue about 4pm. Best wishes for his recovery continue on social media.
The 59-year-old woman driving the wagon, Deborah Levy, was charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. She was granted bail in Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday and will appear in Sutherland Court on February 19.
Wheeler, who is on 2GB radio on Saturdays from 6pm to 9pm and appears in infomercials on Network Seven's The Morning Show, was flown to St George Hospital.
"Glenn has been involved in a very serious incident and the road to recovery is going to be a long one," his family said in a statement.
"The impact left him with a severed artery in one leg and other significant injuries to various parts of his body.
"There's some bleeding on the brain but scans have come back with encouraging results. He's in an induced coma and his condition is stable."
The Morning Show executive producer Sarah Stinson said: "Glenn is a close and dear part of our team.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with Glenn and his family."
Wheeler's colleagues at 2GB and Seven posted messages of support on social media.
SUNDAY STORY: A woman, 59, has been charged after her car collided with a motorcyclist at Woolooware on Saturday afternoon.
Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Woolooware Road and Caronia Avenue about 4pm after a crash between a Mitsubishi Star Wagon and a Piaggio scooter.
They said the male rider of the scooter, 54, suffered serious head and internal injuries.
He was treated by paramedics and taken by helicopter to St George Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. The woman was not injured.
Police from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit inspected the crash site and took the car to a holding yard for examination.
Miranda police later charged the driver with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and making a right turn without giving way to an oncoming vehicle at an unmarked intersection.
She was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today.
