MARIAH Stewart-Mulipola has won a national title in her chosen sport before even contesting a state title.

The Monterey teenager won the gold medal at the 2014 Muay Thai Australia National Championships on the Gold Coast.
She triumphed in the 48-51 kilogram class and in the 15-17 years category.
Competing against older and bigger girls did not deter Mariah.
"This was my first national title," said Mariah, 14. "I have never entered a state title before.
"I will enter the NSW state titles later this year after the world championships."
The 162-centimetre-tall athlete began kick-boxing nine years ago before moving to Muay Thai.
She said she loved the sport.
Mariah is trained and mentored by Tony Favuzzi at Tapan Gym, Mortdale. She credits Favuzzi for his outstanding teaching and encouragement.
The Year 10 Blakehurst High School student said she could not wait for the world titles in Bangkok, Thailand, in August.
Muay Thai is the pinnacle sport in Thailand.
