THE air around the Bendigo central business district is thick with the sound of bagpipes today as thousands of people gather in Rosalind Park to celebrate all things Scottish at the Scots Day Out festival.
Organiser Chris Earl said despite some weather "straight out of Scotland" in the morning, the event was going well.
"The smiles and the looks of wonderment on the faces of literally thousands of people wandering through Rosalind Park has just been amazing," he said.
"There are five and six year old kids who've had their faces painted who look the spitting image of Mel Gibson in Braveheart.
"It's a fantastic atmosphere and it goes to show that Scots Day Out in Bendigo is a really unique event that showcases the city to visitors."
Scots Day Out will continue until 4.30pm at Rosalind Park.
