THE future of St George Illawarra Dragons' forward Trent Merrin remains unclear.
As reported in the Leader on December 2 last year, his manager Wayne Beavis formally knocked back a reported $1.8 million, three-year contract to stay at the club.
His current contract expires at the end of 2015.
Merrin, 25, is in England with the Dragons' squad preparing for this Saturday's World Series clash against Warrington Wolves at 7am (Australian Eastern Standard Time), at Warrington.
Bevis told the Leader yesterday that they had heard "nothing" from the Dragons about any further negotiations.
"We haven't heard a word," Beavis said.
"As I said, we have not heard anything from the Dragons and I guess they are now out of the picture."
When asked if there were several potential rival clubs bidding for his services, Beavis answered that there were "plenty".
He said he could not say any more as he was "bound by confidentiality agreements".
The Roosters are keen to get Merrin into their club in 2016.
In recent weeks Penrith, the New Zealand Warriors and Cronulla Sharks have entered the arena to sign the representative forward.
Can the Dragons keep Trent?
