The NSW police transport command has won the annual Emergency Services Mega Bash.
They triumphed over NSW Fire and Rescue. 132-98, in the final on Sunday.
Sutherland police hosted the annual 10/10 round-robin cricket tournament between police officers, firefighters, SES volunteers and paramedics in Sutherland Shire at Gwawley Oval, Taren Point.
Leader reporter Felicity Nethery who took two wickets for the winning Master Minds side said the game was played in great spirits.
‘‘I was pretty excited to be part of the match and was looking forward to representing the Leader and showing support for the fight against bowel cancer.’’
‘‘Despite no professional cricketers being a part of the match there was still a lot of talent on display out in the middle.
‘‘I might go on the record to say that Matt Elliot (former NRL player and coach) is the best leg spinner I think I have faced.
‘‘We (Master Minds) came away with the win but it was really just a fun day of social cricket and all for a great cause.’’
Twenty two athletes and entertainers played in the celebrity charity match.
Maroon’s Master Minds, captained by Jude Bolton, dominated the match, 136-52.
Comedians Jono Coleman and Anthony Maroon kept the crowd entertained with plenty of banter, on field player interviews and running match commentary.
