HURSTVILLE residents are invited to a sleep-out with mayor Con Hindi, councillors and staff to raise money for the special care nursery at St George Hospital.
The Mayoral Charity Sleep Out will be held from 6.30pm on Saturday, March 7, at Hurstville Oval.
Cr Hindi said all money would go towards oxygen analysers ($1000 each) used to measure the levels of oxygen in babies experiencing breathing difficulties relating to their prematurity.
"I am encouraging community members to join me by sleeping out under the stars to show their support for this great cause," he said.
"Entry into the event is via sponsorship, and I'm encouraging participants to ask their family, friends, work colleagues and neighbours to make a pledge today."
"So bring your family and friends along for a memorable event which will include a movie screening and a charity barbecue."
Cr Hindi said he was motivated to host the event to raise funds and help to promote community awareness about the life-saving work of the nursery which assist babies with specialist neonatal care.
A registration form and sponsorship packages are on the council website: hurstville.nsw.gov.au or people can pay $10 (adults) and $5 (children) on the night.
