TEACHERS will put their best feet forward in the annual Walk of Hope on Saturday, February 28. The fund-raising event — a 12-kilometre stroll or power walk through Cronulla — aims to raise awareness and money for education in Rwanda.
Walk of Hope encourages people to make a difference in disadvantaged schools. Through teacher training programs, curriculum development and resource expansion, educators can visit Rwanda to make a chance for the future of its students.
Inaburra Preschool teacher Michele Black, a veteran participant, is getting ready to tie her laces and pound the pavement in support of the cause.
Mrs Black, of Sylvania, is taking things one step further by moving to Rwanda for two years to help set up a teacher training college for preschool teachers.
The 2015 target set by event organiser Hope Global is $15,000.
