STUDENTS at Brighton-Le-Sands Public School had different lessons when St George Illawarra Dragons players Nathan Green and Mike Cooper visited on Thursday.
The visit was part of the 15th annual NRL Community Carnival in which schools in the St George district had visits from Dragons players.
The textbooks, pencils and pens were put away as pupils listened to their new teachers for the day, Green and Cooper.
The Dragons duo visited 10 schools over several days and spoke to 2750 students in the region.
During the NRL Community Carnival players from every club visit local and regional communities across Australia and New Zealand throughout this month.
The message is about well-being, focusing on everything from nutrition, healthy eating to regular exercise and mental health.
"This is a particularly special community carnival as we celebrate 15 years of the program," said Adam Check, head of NRL Community.
"Community Carnival has made considerable impact over the years on important issues such as bullying and social inclusion, Check said.
"The program has proven that when players talk, students listen.
"The message players will take into schools this year is a simple but important one - taking care of your diet, physical fitness and mental health is vital to your overall well-being."
