Urgent work was completed on the line at Martin Place at 7.20am forcing it to close in both directions between Central and Bondi Junction.

Sydney Trains is advises people to delay their journeys if possible or consider using buses.
EARLIER STORY:
Sydney Trains advises the T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line is partially closed in both directions between Bondi Junction and Central due to urgent track repairs at Martin Place.
Trains travelling towards Central from Waterfall or Cronulla are being diverted via City Circle.
Passengers are advised to delay their journey or travel on Sydney Buses in the affected area. As a result of the partial closure, trains on the South Coast Line are starting and terminating at Central.
Passengers should allow additional travel time, listen to station announcements and check indicator boards.
The delays came as heavy rain poured down about the same time as many people were leaving for work.
Sans Souci recorded 20 millimetres of rain in the hour until 8am, and Canterbury recorded 19 millimetres of rain in the same period.
An SES spokeswoman said heavy rain closed Bexley Road at 7.30am. It re-opened at 8.40am. They received only a handful of calls, mostly for roof damage.
The weather caused further delays across the Sydney network as people who would usually drive to work decided to take public transport, which was already overcrowded because of the technical difficulties.
There were also rail delays on the Northern and Inner West lines.
