Former women's world ski champion Leanne Campbell has had many highs and lows on the way to where she is now.
The Sylvania mother-of-two has put those experiences into an autobiography called Roar!
She explained the reason for the title.
"I chose the name because the word rhymes with raw, as in a raw way, honest," Ms Campbell said.
One of Ms Campbell's own highs has centred on the personal — having kids, having a happy marriage and family.
"Winning the world championship (the F2 women's world 2013 water ski title) was extremely satisfying.
"That is what launched me into the future — I had spent a lot of time not living up to my full potential."
There was much introspection, developing self-awareness.
A "downer" — until recently when she changed her view about this — was coming second in the world championships when she was 17 and 20.
"The lowest point was probably post separation when my first marriage broke up," she said. "There were a lot of contributing factors."
Now those setbacks do not bother her.
"I wrote with a burning desire to help inspire others — that it's never too late to achieve big dreams," she said.
Ms Campbell will make a donation to the Starlight Foundation after she covers her production costs.
The book is dedicated to her husband Matt with an acknowledgement to world champion Sarah Teelow, 20, who was killed in a ski racing fall in 2013 and was a family friend.
The book is available from The Littlest Bookshop in Town, opposite Cronulla station, and major online bookstores.
Roar! A mother's quest from rock bottom to world champion will be launched at 7.30pm tomorrow, March 4, at 2230 restaurant and bar, Cronulla.
