SHUNDE Little Golden Phoenix Art Troupe, from Quandong province in China, will perform at Kogarah this Saturday at 4pm.
The young dancers will be the highlight of the Shunde Cultural and Cuisine Festival at Kogarah Town Centre, 11.30am-5pm.
A collaboration between Barton MP Nickolas Varvaris and Shunde Association of Australia, the event will promote the best of Chinese food and entertainment.
The association's president Nelson Chau said there would be 10 food stalls, representing local restaurants and specialty Chinese caterers.
Formed in 1994, the association is a non-profit organisation with community support services for members.
Mr Chau said its mission was to provide a platform for members to meet regularly and take part in local Chinese community activities and act as a bridge between mainstream Australian in cultural and business activities.
Shunde has a sister city relationship with Kogarah which was sealed with the 2012 gift of a bronze statue of Bruce Lee, master of kung fu, which still stands in the town square, although there are plans to move it to its own park.
The troupe, set up in 1994, has performed at many cultural exchanges and competitions at home and abroad, and has won many prizes.
