A SCOTTISH-born woman who arrived in Australia when she was eight with her five brothers and two sisters has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Peg Duffield settled with her family in Cessnock for a short time before going to live in Lithgow.
In her early years she rode to work at the wool mills on her pushbike and would often ride from Lithgow to Katoomba and back, and compete in long distance rides.
Peg and her husband Walter spent 48 years in Peakhurst where they raised sons Ron and Dean, and daughter Dianne.
She loved bowls and used to play every Tuesday at Grandviews Bowling Club, Lugarno, where she competed in numerous pennant teams. Quite often she would be seen walking to the club and would make items to sell at the club's charity days.
She lived in her Peakhurst home for 65 years, until the age of 96, when she moved to Carrington Centennial Care Camden, to be closer to her family.
She takes part in bus trips, dances, regular luncheons and window shopping trips.
She has six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She celebrated her 100th birthday at Grandviews Bowling Club.
