Five days before the Irish officially celebrate St Patrick's Day on March 17, Sydney folk band The Tinkers who specialise in performing traditional Irish acoustic music will perform at Tradies, Gymea.
They will be playing rebel songs, reels, jigs, ballads, hornpipes, and polkas.
One of the Tinkers, Evelyn Finnerty from Blarney, County Cork, grew up in a musical family and became enamoured with traditional Irish music including fiddle playing.
Born in Dublin, Alan Healy plays the traditional goat skin drum, the bodhran, tenor banjo, bouzouki and guitar.
He has performed with many artists including Tullamore Dews, and has a passion for authors Joyce and Beckett.
Healy has also been involved in the art world for 30 years as a visual artist and sculptor, exhibiting at many sellout shows.
Seamus "Jim" Moginie (ex-Midnight Oil) is a multi-instrumentalist who discovered his Irish roots in recent times, travelling extensively through Ireland collecting tunes.
He plays guitar, bouzouki, ukulele, concertina andthe harmonium.
Christine Wheeler has worked as a musician with Musica Viva in schools for more than 10 years.
She directs a community choir and sings in an a cappella renaissance music quartet.
