WORK is well under way on the first stage of the Sharks' Woolooware Bay development.
The former Cronulla Caringbah Sharks junior leagues clubhouse has been demolished — relocated to new fields and clubhouse at Cronulla High — and hydraulic works have begun on the site.
Developer Bluestone Property Solutions, on behalf of landowners Cronulla Sutherland Leagues Club, has awarded the building contract to Parkview Constructions.
The first stage of the project is on track for a mid-2016 completion.
Parkview managing director Tony Touma said the company was excited to be involved in such an iconic and innovative new development for the shire.
"The sheer popularity of the apartments at Woolooware Bay is a great indication that shire residents are looking for a lifestyle that brings together all the things they love about their area, but takes it to another level," Mr Touma said.
At completion Woolooware Bay will connect three main components: a Bay Central shopping and town centre, the redevelopment of the Cronulla Sutherland Leagues Club and a residential community of 600 apartments.
More than 430 apartments have now sold at Woolooware Bay, with stage one sold out and a small number available in stage two.
