One of rugby league’s most respected personalities, Terry Fearnley, of Cronulla died today, aged 81.
Fearnley coached Cronulla Sharks in 1983 and 1984 when the club was in financial trouble.
He had played 144 games with Eastern Suburbs and coached NSW and Australia.
Sharks management have extended their sympathies to the Fearnley family.
‘‘In his first year in the top job at the Sharks in 1983, Fearnley introduced a teenage Andrew Ettingshausen into first grade in a team that included Gavin Miller, Greg and Mick Mullane, and Kurt and Dane Sorensen,’’ a club statement said.
‘‘Fearnley was a devoted father and grandfather and our thoughts are with his family at this time.’’
