Having suffered through the Dragons fumbling their inept way to another disastrous defeat at the hands of the Wests Tigers, all I can say is, "Good grief!!" (Or should that be, "Bad grief," or even, "Sad grief.")
It seems that the team has now equalled the worst start to a season for the last 15 years. What an ignominious mantle to wear... Even this statistic is misleading as the only reason the Dragons scored was because a defending opposition player fell over! The Wests Tigers also bombed a handful of tries, so a score line of 40-50 to nil would have been a fairer reflection of the disparity of the two sides. As one of the TV commentators said of the Dragons' attacking game,"It resembles an Under 7's passing drill."
Who should shoulder the blame? Who knows where to apportion it. Tyson Frizell was the only player who seemed to deliver the goods, the others were a major disappointment, especially B.M.
As for Trent Merrin who is quoted as saying that he is not going to Penrith because of a larger pay-off, let him prove his words by donating the difference in his annual remuneration to a charity of his choice! Let's face facts, during the entire season, the average player is only on the field for around what is equal to a normal person's working week. Try to work out what his equivalent hourly rate is. My calculator doesn't have enough zeros! Good grief!
