Poor matter of priorities
The Social Services Minister's response to the article is a real cop-out. It is all so easy and simple to "blame the previous Labor government" for the changed funding arrangements to frontline services.
We now have "budget repair".
This repair involves spending lots of money searching for the missing Malaysian Airlines plane lying somewhere on the bottom of the Indian Ocean (probably never to be found), and billions for lots of new submarines (probably built outside of Australia) and new fighter jets.
Obviously a matter of priorities here.
Dennis Lyons, Kogarah
I see Nickolas Varvaris encourages Kogarah-Brighton Uniting Church to contact the Department of Social Services. Why doesn't he get off his backside and get the department to contact the church? After all, that's his job isn't it?
