PEOPLE in need received free dental treatment at Kogarah last Friday, March 20.
Word of Mouth Dentistry at Kogarah was one of 40 clinics in Australia that took part in National Day of Action.
The day was a National Dental Foundation initiative aimed at supporting Australians in need who cannot afford dental treatment.
The practice's manager, Eric Willma, said the 23 people treated for free were chosen by caseworkers from organisations such as the Salvation Army.
A three-year-old boy was among those who got more than $18,000 worth of extractions, fillings, teeth cleaning and other services on the day.
Principal dentist Dr Stella Karakasi said the best ways of protecting teeth and gums included brushing morning and night with a soft-bristle brush or electric toothbrush, flossing before bed and having dental check-ups every six months.
Word of Mouth Dentistry was the national winner of the Small Business Champion Awards in 2009 and has been involved in many charitable events.
