THE NSW Women in Policing baton relay came to Cronulla on Wednesday, when a group of female Miranda police officers ran from Greenhills beach to Dunningham Park.
The officers began the two-kilometre relay after they were passed the baton from St George police, who held their celebrations at Peter Depena Park on Tuesday.
Miranda police Constable Nicole Murphy ran the first leg from Greenhills to Wanda.
‘‘It’s only a short run so I didn’t do any extra training,’’ she said.
Miranda Superintendent Michael O’Toole said it was a great chance to showcase the achievements of women in the police force. ‘‘We now have hundreds of committed and successful women working in diverse roles, such as the dog unit, rescue squad, mounted unit and detectives,’’ he said.
