HURSTVILLE Council's draft flood study is now on public display.
The recently commissioned study represents the completion of stages 1 and 2 of the floodplain management process in compliance with the requirements of the NSW Floodplain Development Manual.
Hurstville mayor Con Hindi said the purpose of the draft study was to define the flood behaviour under historical and existing floodplain conditions in the Hurstville LGA while considering possible future variations in flood behaviour.
"The council hasn't made a decision on flood levels or development standards that may be applied in the future and is currently seeking community feedback on it," he said.
"The draft study is an important step in the council's efforts in increasing protection for residents and property from the impacts of flooding in the future."
Cr Hindi encouraged all potentially affected residents to view the plans during the public display period.
The draft study is on show until May 15 and can be seen at: the council's customer service centre, MacMahon Street, Hurstville, between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday; Hurstville Library during library hours; and the council's website, hurstville.nsw.gov.au /public-notices.
The study consultants, SMEC Australia, will be available to address public inquiries every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the customer service centre between 11am and 1pm.
