ULA and Mark Falanga wasted no time getting involved in the community since making Sutherland Shire their home.
Mrs Falanga is standing for the Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group) in the seat of Heathcote, while her husband is the party's candidate in Miranda.
The couple moved to Cronulla late last year after 25 years at East Hills.
Both have represented the Christian Democratic Party before; Mrs Falanga ran for Warringah, held by Prime Minister Tony Abbott, in the 2010 and 2013 federal elections, while Mr Falanga was the party's candidate for Banks in 2013.
The couple said "a commitment to family values" was behind their decision to run.
"We hope to have a third member elected to the upper house," Mrs Falanga said. "It involves a lot of work, but I think it is worthwhile because standards in society have been dragged down from where they were 10 years ago."
"Everything is being watered down, not just in families but also in the workplace.
"Big corporations don't care as long as they get their own way.
"You can't bend all the time.
"We have to start fighting to build things back up again."
