ALFORD'S Point water-skier Curtis Horbury (pictured) is in top shape for next month's World Junior Titles in New Zealand.
Curtis, who turns 16 on Friday, hones his fitness levels playing AFL with Bangor Tigers and rises early twice a week to go to boxercise classes.
The 186cm athlete, who has won several NSW and Australian titles in the junior age groups, is shooting for glory in Wellington with the titles starting on April 11.
The world junior titles, held every two years, are for competitors under 17 and Curtis will compete in four races which are each 55 kilometres in distance.
"These are my first world titles," he said.
Curtis, who started water-skiing when he was three, said it's an unexplainable feeling zooming along the water at speeds of around 140km/h.
"It's hard to describe — it's a real rush."
His father Jon will drive the 300-horsepower Formula 2 boat as Curtis races for the Brimestone racing team. Jon's brother, Tim, is the boat's observer.
"We are a mad water-skiing family," Jon said.
