Cronulla-Sutherland Junior Rugby League players and volunteers will be honoured on Saturday when Sharks take on Gold Coast Titans at Remondis Stadium, Woolooware.
The Sharks will pay tribute to players and volunteers from 14 clubs during the PlayNRL celebration of grassroots football.
There will be pre-match and half-time activities on the field including a lap of honour, Oztag matches, backyard league matches, PlayNRL interview with junior rugby league representative Judd O’Shea and $1000 Sharks members draw.
Fans can meet the Mermaids cheerleaders and Sharks mascots Reefy and Hammerhead, and enjoy a pass-the ball-competition, a conversion kicking competition and jumping castle.
Spectators will be allowed on the field after the final whistle for a Sharks kick.
Prop Chris Heighington will be playing his 250th NRL game and fullback Michael Gordon will be playing his 50th NRL game in Sharks colours.
Former Sharks player and club membership ambassador Beau Ryan is the face of the NRL’s PlayNRL campaign which promotes the health, physical, social and academic benefits of the game to children.
Gates open at 3pm and the first grade match will start at 5.30pm.
