St George police are appealing for witnesses to an armed robbery at a Hurstville finance business on Thursday at 6.30pm.
They said a man went into Cash Stop on Forest Road, threatened a female staff member with a firearm and demanded cash.
She put a cash tray from a drawer on the counter before running to a secure staff area at the rear of the shop.
The man took the cash and fled. He was last seen running east along Forest Road toward Hurstville railway station.
Police searched the area and detectives and forensic officers investigated the scene but they could not find him.
They now want to speak to a man described as being of Asian appearance, aged about 40-50. He was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and a green surgical mask covering his mouth and nose.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
