CRONULLA Sharks are winless after four rounds of the NRL season and the task of breaking the drought gets even harder when they tackle second-placed Sydney Roosters next Sunday at Allianz Stadium.
With only four minutes left in the game, an intercept pass thrown by Cronulla Sharks five-eighth Wade Graham to Gold Coast Titans centre James Roberts, who sprinted 60 metres to score, gave the visitors a 24-22 win on Saturday night at Remondis Stadium.
The Sharks have slumped to 10 straight losses at home when you count last season's Remondis Stadium losses on top of the three games this season, to Canberra, Brisbane and the Titans.
Cronulla Sharks coach Shane Flanagan said the Sharks had "forgotten how to win".
"We weren't smart enough," Flanagan said after the game.
"When you aren't winning, you forget how to win."
Flanagan said the effort from the players was there but its poor execution of their attacking plays costing them.
One pleasing aspect of the match was the debut of former St George Illawarra Dragons utility player Jack Bird.
Bird played five-eighth when Wade Graham left the field for a concussion test by the doctor after taking a knock.
He had another stint in the game playing centre with Gerard Beale switching to five-eighth.
It won't be long before the youngster gets given his chance in the starting line-up.
In other news, equipment hire company Coates Hire has signed as back-of-the-jersey sponsor for the next three years.
Ben Barba is still out, suspended for another week.
Gold Coast Titans 24 defeated Cronulla Sharks 22 (Valentine Holmes two tries, Michael Enmnis tries, Michael Gordon five goals).
Crowd: 9566.
