SUTHERLAND Shire Netball Association’s winter competitions began on Saturday, March 21, at Belingarra Road Netball courts.
The Miranda headquarters has undergone some restoration in time for the season.
‘‘Sutherland Council re-surfaced four of our courts,’’ association president Maria Bettini said.
‘‘We want to thank the council for doing this in time for the competition.’’
The association’s State League teams have also begun the 2015 Netball NSW competitions.
Games are played each week at Netball Central at Sydney Olympic Park.
Sutherland is fielding No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 division teams in the state league.
Taylah Davies and Madeleine Hay, who play in the state league No. 1 team, have been selected in the Australian under-21s team.
The Sutherland association has provided a stack of top-level players over the years including current Australian Diamonds and NSW Swifts captain, Kimberlee Green.
The association has 562 teams, 5400 registered players from 25 clubs.
