AN A cappella all-female group has scored the best-ever mark for its region and has qualified to represent Australia in Las Vegas in October.
The Sutherland-shire based Endeavour Harmony Chorus won the Sweet Adelines regional competition held at Sydney Olympic Park. There were 23 groups which competed for the gold medal.
The 83-member Harmony Chorus strutted their stuff performing At Last and How Many Hearts, and was directed by Lea Baker.
"Most of the chorus members are from the shire or St George and they formed in 1996," Ms Baker said.
Chorus members have performed overseas and their aim this time was to be placed in the top 10 in the world.
"There's no money prize, there's just a little gold medal," Ms Baker said.
"We just want to improve our score; you get a lot of comment back from the judges on how to improve."
The chorus sings four-part harmony, with songs ranging from old jazz numbers to Billy Joel, the Eurythmics and Tina Turner.
One of the chorus members, Jennifer Parry, is blind but that's no hindrance.
