Trees killed
Recently my 89-year-old neighbour returned home to find her banksia tree had been poisoned: six drill holes in the trunk and poison injected.
The tree died very quickly, a matter of days. The Sutherland Shire Council and police could do nothing because the malicious act was not witnessed.
On the balance of probabilities it wouldn't take a genius to know who the coward was.
The tree was on her property, causing no harm, so why this criminal act?
Surely if there is a problem with a tree, speak to the owner — don't commit what I also consider a violation of a person's home.
The dead tree will remain and three more planted to replace it. Has anyone else experienced this malicious act and felt powerless?
