THE ball is rolling on and off the field with Endeavour Sports High School to become a Sydney FC Football School.
A series of meetings between Sydney FC's Academy director Kelly Cross, the school's head of football Chris Bradley and school principal James Kozlowski sealed the deal.
Mr Kozlowski told the Leader the association was a further expansion of its football program.
He said there were 84 students from year 7-12 in the program and the relationship with Sydney FC was an exciting development.
"The number one focus for the school students in any of the sports programs is their education," Mr Kozlowski said.
"The main priority is to help the students become good citizens for whatever they do in their life."
Mr Bradley is head coach and said there were six coaches who look after the football program.
Kelly Cross said "the ball is rolling" and talent identification was under way.
"We have already made evaluations of Endeavour players in matches and the relationship will come into full effect from the start of 2016," Mr Cross said.
"Endeavour Sports High School is our southern Sydney football school."
Mr Cross said the program was about "learning lessons on and off the field".
He said Sydney FC's relationship with Endeavour Sports School would enable the the school's students to be closely monitored for possible selection into Sydney FC's Academy which was scheduled to come into operation later this year.
"It's an elite level football program and we will have a regular presence," Mr Cross said.
The school and Sydney FC will hold trials at the 5 Sports fields on the school grounds on Thursday, April 23, and Friday, April 24, from 10am, for boys and girls.
"The trials are for current year 6 boys and girls, for entry into year 7 next year," Mr Kozlowski said.
Sydney FC W-League women’s team captain Teresa Polias, 23, of Brighton-Le-Sands went to Endeavour Sports High School.
Other students who went on to play for Sydney FC men’s teams are Marc Warren and Nick Tsattalios.
