THE four Bate Bay clubs — Cronulla, North Cronulla, Elouera and Wanda — are ready for the biggest event on their annual club calendar — the 2015 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.
The annual event and pinnacle of the sport will be held on April 13-19 at North Kirra Beach, Queensland.
Several hundred athletes from the Bate Bay clubs are among the estimated 6100 of the best Australian men and women competitors in the event that is celebrating 100 years on the Gold Coast.
North Cronulla was "Best Bate Bay Club" last year, in the top 10 ahead of Wanda, Elouera and Cronulla.
All club competitors have been training and competing at titles and club competitions throughout the season to qualify for the Australian championships.
For the first time there will be youth championships for under-14s and under-15s age groups on Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12.
Also for the first time, the Aussies Ocean 2.5m-kilometre swim will be from Tweed Heads to North Kirra.
A family day has been introduced on Saturday, April 18, before the finals on April 19.
The masters event will be on Monday and Tuesday, April 13 and 14.
The open-age category events will be on Wednesday to Sunday, April 15-19.
