PUPILS from St Catherine Laboure Catholic Primary School at Gymea and St Aloysius Primary School at Cronulla were among other school pupils who attended a recent interfaith event for Harmony Day.
Pupils in years 3 to 6 welcomed guest speakers from five faith backgrounds - Buddhist, Muslim, Jewish, Indigenous and Christian — who talked about their religions and stereotypes.
Buddhist speaker Ling Halbert from Nan Tien Temple at Wollongong spoke about the importance of compassion and the history of Buddha.
Indigenous speaker Valerie Bryant from the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry Sydney spoke about culture and symbols.
Baptist speaker Greg Lake highlighted the similarities in Christian faiths.
Muslim speaker Ahmed Abdo explained to pupils how he prepared for prayer five times a day.
