THE Salvation Army's Major Keith Hampton is the new head of the chaplaincy program at Sydney Airport.
He was welcomed at an official event at the airport on April 1.
Sydney Airport general manager of corporate affairs Sally Fielke said he was a welcome addition.
"Sydney Airport has a long history of working with The Salvation Army, which play an important role at the airport, providing great comfort to our passengers, stakeholders and staff in need," she said.
"We are pleased to welcome Major Hampton to the Sydney Airport team as part of our airport chaplaincy program and look forward to continuing our positive relationship with The Salvation Army, which contribute so much to the community."
Major Hampton has been appointed to the role for two years and will oversee five part-time chaplains working at the airport.
"I'm thrilled to join Sydney Airport on behalf of The Salvation Army and look forward to offering practical, emotional and spiritual support to the airport's passengers, staff and visitors," he said.
