THE Rockdale Remembrance Garden has had a makeover in time for the centenary of the Anzac landing at Gallipoli.
The memorial was originally built in 1971 when the council decided to build a memorial honouring local residents who enlisted in the armed services and fought in wars.
It will be re-dedicated during a ceremony on Sunday.
The restoration works include new walls as well as polishing and resurfacing of the brass blades.
The original plaques remain alongside new plaques including the badges of the three military forces.
The surrounding garden has been replanted with Australian natives as well as the Gallipoli rose.
The project was the idea of Rockdale Council which will run the dedication service alongside Rockdale RSL and the parishes of Mary MacKillop (Arncliffe and Rockdale).
Rockdale RSL Sub-branch president John Sutton said the council had worked extremely hard to get the new garden finished before Anzac Day.
"The end result is superb," he said. "I know our members will be delighted by the end result."
