THE most valuable prize for many cancer survivors is life itself but the Sutherland 24-hour Relay for Life has a tangible raffle prize for ticket buyers.
The prize is a photo safari of New York city for two adults (valued at $12,000), donated by udesign photo tours.
Dr Patricia Bastick will represent the director of medical oncology at St George Hospital, Dr Kiran Phadke, in drawing the winning ticket at the relay closing function on Wednesday night, May 13.
A grateful patient of Dr Phadke donated the prize.
Raffle tickets can be bought from Relay For Life teams and at the May 2-3 event at Sylvania Waters atheletics track.
The guided trip through New York city will be six days of photo safaris through Central Park, around Brooklyn Bridge and Botanical Gardens, Metropolitan Museum of Art, city buildings and High Line Elevated Park.
There will be classes on the nuts and bolts of the winner's equipment.
MC for the shire Relay for Life will be speaker trainer and consultant, Michael Schoettler.
"It is a rewarding role, it's one that happened because I had a friend on the committee and it's something I can do," he said.
