Two girls and two boys and a teacher from Cronulla High School have won a trip to attend the Gallipoli dawn service this year.
Students had to submit works that reflected their perception of Gallipoli/Anzac/Australia's nationhood.
The students will also be able to attend various Anzac sites, war cemeteries of both sides and cultural sites in Istanbul.
Among the students are Jazzmaree Dawson, a year 10 girl who wrote original lyrics and music to a song, recorded in a studio, which has been posted on YouTube.
Jazzmaree originally wrote the piece as a poem about fear and uncertainty being a precursor to heroism.
Fellow year 10 student Sydney Soames submitted a story with a dual theme of a young girl in Cronulla juxtaposed against a WWI Digger using a portrait of a great-uncle who lost his life on the Western Front.
Year 12 student Alex Witherden created a lead sculpture with a remembrance poppy theme.
Self-taught in working with lead, he chose lead as his medium because of its symbolic link with munitions.
Another year 12 student Thomas McCorquodale submitted a written piece entitled Anzac — 100 years on.
Thomas has linked the Gallipoli experience with the concept of nationhood and nation building.
