The 1200 entrants in the 2015 Oatley Fun Run on Sunday, April 26, were not deterred by the rain and cool weather.
Oatley Fun Run race director Jim Owens says they can boast — humbly — that they have the best event of its type in NSW.
Owens said the rain and cool weather did not deter 1200 entrants last Sunday.
The sixth annual fun run at Oatley Oval had entrants of all ages, including parents pushing toddlers in prams.
‘‘It looks as though we have raised $10,000,’’ Owens said.
‘‘We had so many volunteers [helping out].’’
Cerebal Palsy Alliance at Penshurst will receive $5000; other organisations to receive donations will be Mortdale Scouts, St George District Athletic Club, St John Ambulance and various schools.
There were three events: kids’ dash one-kilometre run, 2.5-kilometre run and five-kilometre run (main event).
First male runner across the line in the main event was Harry Summers, the top Australian in 5000 and 10,000 metres running; Bryce Coles-Sinclair was second; and Hamish Wallace came third.
Beijing Oympian runner Victoria Mitchell was the first woman; Jessica Guo second, Emily Schneider third.
In the kids’ dash, Casey Stanley was the first female, Georgia Latanis second, and Lucy Pope came third.
