Almost 500 people have signed an online petition to improve safety at the point where Parraweena Road becomes Northumberland Drive, Caringbah.
A cement truck driver is lucky to be alive after his vehicle rolled on to cars parked in Parraweena Road on Friday, April 24.
Megan Barnes of Caringbah, who was near the accident when it happened, began the petition on change.org. Click here to see the petition.
She wants Sutherland Shire Council to improve visibility in the area.
Mayor Kent Johns said on Facebook that he was ‘‘getting a report and then will have it reviewed by the traffic committee’’.
Ms Barnes said it was only a matter of time before a motorist or pedestrian was killed at the intersection.
‘‘It’s a very busy spot, especially when you are trying to turn right into Parraweena Road,’’ she said.
‘‘You have semi-trailers parked on your right and you cannot see a thing and have to edge forward into traffic.’’
Comment is being sought from Sutherland Shire Council and police.
