THE second Kogarah Community Sleep Out has been launched and now is a good time to register for the event.
Once again the organisers have chosen the depths of winter to help show the reality of homelessness and to raise funds to help those who most need it.
Doors will open at 6pm on Saturday, July 11, at WIN Jubilee Oval — home of the St George and Illawarra Dragons — where participants will sleep out on the field.
Organiser Cathy Nisbet said Kogarah Community Services was grateful to Oatley MP Mark Coure who secured funding so the event could be staged.
The entrance cost of $10 for adults and $5 for under-16s include your own grassy patch to sleep on and a sausage sizzle; sleepers must be 12 years and over.
The night will include entertainment from local bands and musicians, a trivia quiz on local knowledge and real life stories from people who have experienced homelessness.
There will be prizes for the best decorated football, best use of glow sticks and best outfit.
Sleepers will be encouraged to raise sponsorship for Project Youth and there will be collection points in the lead-up to the event for the greater community to donate tinned food and toiletries.
