Rockdale City Suns FC parted with coach Branko Culina on Monday, April 27.
Culina, 57, of Brighton-Le-Sands, is a former Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets A-League coach.
He said it was disappointing but he accepted the club’s decision.
‘‘I have had a wonderful two and half years at the club,’’ Culina said.
‘‘I want to see the club to continue to rise and become a heavyweight in state football.
‘‘We achieved quite a lot in making the semi finals, reaching a grand final and doing well in other competitions.
‘‘It’s always harder when you get near the top to stay near the top.’’
Rockdale City Suns president Dennis Loether said a new coach would be announced soon.
Loether it was a difficult decision to make.
‘‘It was a board decision to part ways with Branko,’’ Loether said.
‘‘The board will sit down to look to make a longterm appointment.’’
For the interim, experienced midfielder Paul Reid will take over as coach and continue to play.
The Suns next play Sydney United at 3pm on Sunday at Ilinden Sports Centre.
