MICHAEL Ennis and Chris Heighington could be in a spot of trouble over a tackle they made together against Penrith on Sunday at Pepper Stadium, Penrith.
The Sharks pair were placed on report for a dangerous tackle on Penrith prop Jeremy Latimore in the 18-26 loss to the Panthers.
The NRL judiciary match review committee was due to look at the incident on Monday.
Leading 18-12 at half-time, the Sharks appeared leg weary and exhausted in the second half.
Penrith scored all the second half points (14) to win the match.
The Sharks backed up from a tough game in heavy conditions from their Monday night victory over Souths at Remondis Stadium, Woolooware.
Their opponents in that game, Souths, also appeared to tire in their loss to Canberra, after leading at half-time in Cairns, and the Raiders surged home to win 30-22.
Without lock and skipper Paul Gallen, who is out indefinitely with a gluteal/hip muscle injury, and the Fifita brothers, Andrew (suspended) and David (injured), the Panthers forwards dominated in the second half.
Sharks coach Shane Flanagan said the match was in the balance and there were turning points which determined the outcome.
"It was one of those games where whoever valued possession and got good field position was going to come home over the top," he said. "Penrith had the bounce of the ball got their way a couple of times."
Penrith 26 d Cronulla Sharks 18 (Valentine Holmes, Sosaia Feki, Ricky Leutele tries, Michael Gordon 3 goals);
crowd: 12,798.
There will be no NRL games this weekend because of representative fixtures.
The Sharks next game will be against the New Zealand Warriors at 5.30pm, on Saturday, May 9, at Remondis Stadium, Woolooware.
