SUTHERLAND FC Sharks have drawn first blood and the premiership points in the annual two-round Leader Cup and Football NSW men's 1 division game.
The Sharks were dominant in their victory on their home turf at Seymour Shaw Stadium, Miranda, on Saturday night to win 6-2 against Rockdale City Suns.
The match was played in driving rain.
The Leader Cup second-round clash will be on Sunday, July 19, at Ilinden Sports Centre, Arncliffe.
Rockdale City Suns are the Leader Cup holders but are winless after seven rounds and are sitting on the bottom of the competition table.
The Sharks have moved to eighth spot with the win and are on seven competition points.
Rockdale went ahead in the match through Alec Urosevski, but a double to Sharks defender Jacob Tratt and a goal to Jordan Figon saw the home side take a 3-1 lead going into half time.
Sutherland's Sharks FC's Chris McStay made it 4-1 shortly after the interval and the fifth goal came through Seongjin Park.
Nikola Taneski pulled one back for the Suns to make it 5-2. But Sutherland Sharks FC substitute Peter Crevani rounded out the scoring with 10 minutes to go.
